The IDS is challenged by the increasing number of children with type 1 diabetes worldwide, an autoimmune disease that can occur at any age, and our limited ability to change its course once autoimmunity has started. We are in exciting times with an unprecedented ability to generate data together, and this calls for us to see, hear, and discuss the data openly, critically, and constructively. This is the spirit of IDS 2015. We will bring together the experts, the data, those who think the same, those who think differently, and those who fund us to find the cause and the cure.
